''exterminator''

My tenant recently called to tell me that he has bed bugs and that i, the landlord, have to get him and pay for an exterminator. is this my obligation as landlord, since i rented the apartment without bedbugs to him for years.?

If you rented your tenant a "furnished" apartment; and the furnishings included the contaminated mattress, you might be liable for the injury to your tenant and the remedy of the bed bug problem.

Suggest that you consider compromising, (even if you feel it not warranted); and try to settle this problem, with some kind of rent rebate and matress replacement, to avoid litigation, if the tenant is an otherwise desirable tenant.
