Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

My Ex Gay Partner is suing for 1/2 my house

I had a 6 year relationship with an illgal imigrant. I supported him for most of the relationship. I bought a house while we were together both the deed and mortgage are in my name. He left 3 years ago and is now suing for 1/2 my house. He claims he contributed towards the down payment on a condo i purchased first and then sold to buy the house. The properties were both in my name. he is suing for constructive trust. The only thing i put his name on was my bank account because he could not get one on his own. Most of the money he deposited he sent back home to his family. Does he have a case

Re: My Ex Gay Partner is suing for 1/2 my house

It depends on the strength of his evidence of contributions and the existence of an agreement between you. Unmarried partners share no economic interests other than those expressly agreed to or otherwise provided by law. You should consult an attorney right away to avoid defaulting or responding to the complaint in a way that might hurt you. It soundls like there is a lot at stake, so it's probably well worth it to pay for the right kind of help.
