Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Harrasment by another tennant

We recently moved in into appartment building.

From the very start the tennant from downstair keeps complaining that we are ''walking too loudly'' in our

appartment. He came to our door about four times within first two weeks (once after 11pm). His only complain was that we are ''walking in our bedroom''.

I warned him do not come to my door without police or I call them myself. Then he met me near mail box. Once again - ''we were walking''.

My wife is pregnant, and all this makes her nervoius.

Is there any options to prevent that guy from terrorising us?

Re: Harrasment by another tennant

I would immediately contact my landlord

and inform him that unless the landlord

instructs the tenant to cease and desist

I will be moving out because I am being

constructively evicted with the harrassment

from the tenant. If nothing is done, move.

The police will not help you The Judge

will tell you the same thing, namely, if the

living conditions are unbearable, your

remedy is to move and not owe the landlord

any further money
