Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
Helping Mom
I am installing a roof on my mother's house in New York. I got the money from my friend in California. I want security for this money by using the property as collateral until it is paid back. At present, mortgagee is my mother and she is the only name on the mortgage. Currently I am on vacation in New York until tomorrow. What forms would I need and what would I be able to do from California.

Re: Helping Mom
You might consider documenting your loan for the house roof repair via use of a "Second" Mortgage, Note or Promissory Note or other filed lien on the property, that puts "the world" on notice of your interest in the premises.
Good luck,
