Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Holdover

I need a crackerjack tenant lawyer to represent me against a very famous and rich and politically connected landlord in an eviction proceeding. The landlord is trying to evict me from my rent stabilized apt of 18 years as a vendetta for reporting him to various agencies. He has put a list of 25 reasons as to why I am a nuisance and should lose my apt. They are very impressive and paint me as a Charles Manson, except they are false or exaggerated. However, the landlord has people willing to lie and this makes it a very serious situation for me. I therefore need a lawyer who is respected in the courts and is a Gerry Spence of tenant lawyers. How can I find such a person? Time is of the essence.

Re: Holdover

Nuisance is always the toughest form of l&t for a landlord to prove but if the LL has the witnesses, the challenge is showwing that they are lying. The other issue is how closely related your complaints are to the eviction. The Courts are cautious when they see a long-term stab. tenant, they know the current market pressure. As to my "star" status, read my bio on findlaw.com and feel free to ask around, there is a small number of L&T specialists. Please call if you are still in need of counsel and I will be happy to get into specifics.
