judgements and no housing

incurred a housing judgement prior to divorce,now i am in neee of housing and is having difficulty finding housing due the judgement on my credit report, do i have any recourse-- yes i would like to pay the debt but is not in the financial position to do so at the moment,but does this mean i should be homeless.

A judgment in NYS remains in effect for 20 years, if unpaid. Your best recourse is to try to establish a payment schedule with the judgment creditor and obtain a Satisfaction of Judgment which when filed with the county clerk, clears the record.
