Landlord Damages to Apartment

I recently have left my apartment and some how during leaving one of the bedroom doors got locked. The bedrooms doors have key locks on them and no keys where provided when we moved in. The landlord recently toured the apartment for damages and finding the bedroom door locked busted in the door braking the door frame. he now wants to take the damages from my security. Is that legal? since he caused the damages and a simple screw driver would have poped the lock?

He is not enitled to reimbursement for damage he caused.
