Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
a new landlord
i am renting an apartment in a two family house in ny. my lease ends in july 2006. i got a message from my landlord saying that he sold the house and i have to move out by december 31st 2005 because the new owner wishes to occupy my apartment. does he have the right to end my lease for that reason? what are my options? what should i do in order to stay in the apartment until the end of the lease?

Re: a new landlord
So long as your apartment is a legal rental in the two family house, the landlord cannot remove you prior to the expiration of your lease except for cause. There may be factors here which I am not aware of, so feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss this further.
Kind regards,

Your lease is a contract that should survive the transfer.
Have him buy you out if you would like to move earlier.
