Leasing an apartment

Do I have to give the leasing agency my deposit (first and security) before the leased is signed or can I do it once it has been signed?

Generally you pay the security when you sign the lease and the first month's rent before you move in.

The landlord or its agent will surely require you to pay upon execution of the lease.
