legal deed change

hi, am married, but only my husbands name is on deed for house and property. can we add mine to it by filling out our own forms and if so,what forms do we need?, and where can they be obtained? thank you ever so kindly.

You need a deed. The information on the new deed should be the same as on the old deed, except the "seller" is the husband and the "purchaser" is the husband and wife, "by tenancy by the entirety". Or, after the wife's name you may write, "his wife."

You will need a tp 584 form. This form may be found at: http://www.tax.state.ny.us/pdf/2007/fillin/property/tp584_307_fill_in.pdf

You will also need a NYS Equialization form. This form is in triplicate and may be ordered by contacting NY State Real Property Services. Your county clerk may also have the form.
