Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
Am I legally entitled to pay someone some sort of referral/finders fee if there is nothing in writing and when they gave me the lead and when I closed the lead, they had moved out of state and no longer had their NY salesperson licensed sponsored by a broker? There is more to the story but that is the main question...

It does not appear there is a problem. Just remember that you need to file a Form 1099 and Form 1096 with IRS to report the fee. This is a reply to an Internet question and the response is not intended to be legal advice or as creating an attorney-client relationship.
