Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
I live on a dead end block that due to the road's structure, you are only able to park cars on one side of the street, otherwise cars would not be able to drive down the block. A neighbor of mine has one of those signs that is sort of shaped like the AIM logo man that holds a flag. He puts this in the street, against the curb whenever the neighborhood kids are out playing, usually it is in front of my house. No one speeds down our block, and we already have a legit sign posted at the opening of our block that states "SLOW Children Playing" and a 'Dead End' street sign as well. This sign is not only an eye sore being as its bright yellow, but I do not like having it in front of my house especially since sometimes it will be right next to my driveway making it difficult to turn into and it interrupts the flow of traffic because although no one speeds, it causes people to go super slow in order to make sure not to hit the sign or the car parked across from it. He at times will also put it at the opening of the block, a couple feet from the curb, so turning into the block is not as easy.
Being that we already have a sign cautioning people that children play on our block, and the fact that he puts it in the street which is public property, do I have the right to get rid of it myself?

The sign is on a public street and not on your property. You do not have the right of self-help to remove the sign. However, you do have the right to complaint to the proper authorities (the police) in order to remove the sign.
