Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I live in Suffolk County New York, understand A quitclaim deed can be used to transfer ownership from a wife and husband to a husband only. The wife would need to sign the deed to effectuate a valid transfer. Does this remove wife from the mortgage and responsibility
