how do you locate a trust

my ex's brother died in 1992, leaving a trust for nieces and nephews. My son is now entering college and my ex brother in law refuses to provide any information regarding this trust. is the trust public record? and how do you go about locating the trust. is there any recourse in having him disclose this information?

Re: how do you locate a trust

If You contacted your EX brother in law, directly, rather than your EX, to address this matter, your former inlaw's refusal to respond to your questions, is not unreasonable.

You and your Ex need to PLAN how the two of you will assist or contribute to your son's attendance at college.

In your discussions with your EX, You can ASK HIM, whether your son can expect assistance from HIS family, from any source.

If your Ex declines to respond or cooperate, you can Petition the Court for upward modification of child support and request your EX to pay a share of college costs and expenses, for your child.

The Court may permit you to raise the "Trust" Will or Probate issue, and order and compel disclosure of all records for same, as of evidence of ALL the resources, that may be available to your EX, for the payment of college costs and expenses.

Good luck,
