Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
My mother lives in an apartment complex. As her mother was in the home on hospice care during the blizzard several people suffered carbon monoxide poisoning. The Hospice nurse and my aunt lost consciousness. 2 others suffered gastric distress. The source of the CO was likely a generator a friend set up outside the front door. She lives in Port Jefferson Long Island NY. Does the landlord have a legal responsibility to provide CO detectors for their residents?

No. The fault may lye with the tenant.
Was the generator set up by a friend of you or your mother? Did someone make a special request for it? We have substantial experience handling these types of cases and very reasonable fees. However, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. You are welcome to contact us for a free consultation.
