Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
I moved to Manhattan 4 months ago. I have never signed a lease and I am on a month-to-month basis. Now, because of a few unforeseeable events, I have to move back to California. I told my lessor over a month ago that I need to leave the state again. He told me that he will only accept my request once he finds another tenant. I am worried because the lessor made a copy of my ID and SSQ to do a background check. Can I vacate the property and fly back to California without any repercussion?
