Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I am moving to a new rental location in Albany, New York. The home owner has requested that I complete an application form asking for my driver's license number, plus my salary. I work for SUNY, and my husband is a physician. Are we legally obligated to supply this information?

Nothing compels you to give the owner anything. However, by the same token they can legally ask you for certain informaiton to be sure you have the income to support the rental payments.
