Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

neighbor problems

I live in a townhouse that is a 2 family home. Both me and the neighbors are in very close proximity to one another right next door they have recently started some trouble, playing music very loud, threatening to stab us, trying o hit us, and other incidences.

we have spoken to our landlord and he is hesitant to rectify this problem. They are paying $1000 and we are paying $1200 for identical apartments. WE have had the police here three times, once because our mail is missing from the box, oncebecause they were threatening to stab me, and the last because they were intentionally parking in a way no one else could park.

we need to know what rights we have and what can we do??

Re: neighbor problems

Advise your landlord in writing as to what is going on. Read your lease. You should be entitled to quiet enjoyment. I would advise him you are going to hold back rent until he takes care of the problem. A judge would do the same.
