help
I would like to have a open house myself on my house. The agent is not active enough and wount let me out of my agreement. I would invite him to attend and still get his commission. Simply to forward with my goals. Is this ok to propose or am I getting in trouble I don't need?

Re: help
Why not just take the house off the market and thereby cancel the agreeement with the agent.
Next time, make the agreement for 3 months, not the usual 6. You can always extend it but 3 months may motivate the agent more.
Good Luck

While I agree in theory with Bob, I do not agree that terminating your agreement prior to its natural expiration date is valid. I do not know nor have you stated what thye terms of your agreement are and what is or is not permitted. This could create an exposure to you. I suggest letting the broker kinow what you intend to do, seek their assistence and, if none is offered, do it on your own. I suggest putting what you contemplate in writing, so you have proof that youy advised them and solicited their cooperation. This is a response to an Internet question and the reply is not to be considered as legal advice or as creating an attorney-client relationship.

I agree with Mr. Levine. Your respective obligations depend on the terms of the agreement. If the broker is paid a commission, he will incur no damage as a result of your efforts. Further, if he is not performing as agreed, he may have breached, allowing you to terminate. Conult an attorney if you wish to explore the latter alternative.
