Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
Police drug raid damage to rental unit
I own an apartment building. One of the units was involved in a no-knock entry drug raid. The door needs to be replaced. Who is responsible for replacing the door, the tenant or the police?

If the raid was legal & based on probable cause the tenant is responsible.

If the raid was conducted lawfully, the tenant is responsible. If there was no probable cause, you have a claim against the police department.
