Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Process for signing over title

I am paying off the mortgage my ex-husband and I hold title

to. The provisions of our divorce agreement (12 years ago)

have been satisfied and he will be signing title over to me.

What is required to accomplish signing over to me?: a

notarized letter from him (to the bank?, a city office?) Do

we need a lawyer to file documents for us? Thank you.

He should convey his ownership of the premises to you by way of deed. An attorney should oversee the entire transaction and filing with the county clerk. Good luck.

I agree with the information provided by Attorney Slater. Some nonlawyers attempt to make the transfer without the aid of an attorney but you should contact an attorney to avoid possible errors, delays and expenses from those errors.
