Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
Purchasing home with a lien
Hello, I am not too familiar with the law, but I am currently in the process of purchasing a home from a seller who has a bank lien on her property. From what I understand, she paid for the house in cash, so I am not sure why there would be a lien, except that I heard she has gotten into some kind of trouble with the law?
My lawyer is now trying to remove the lien so I can purchase the home, but I was wondering if there would be any situation where the lien cannot be removed and therefore, I would not be able to purchase this house.
Thanks.
