Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

hello. I have a question. I have a friend who share a mortgage with her partner. sorry both are females. my friend would like to leave and have herself remove from the mortgage but the other party does not want her to leave. what is her option? she is pretty much feels captive and unable to per sue her happiness

Assuming they are both on the deed, your friend may bring a Court action for partition of the property. This would force a sale and the mortgage would be paid.
