Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

real estate purchase contract

We entered a contract to purchase a house that was for sale over a year as part of an estate, the seller set the closing date, and we found out the day before we were supposed to close that the estate paperwork was never filed. Our house was sold after we signed to buy and the closing date set on the strength of our other closing date. We still have not closed on our purchase and no date is lined up, our closing is this week and we have no where to go. What are our rights and options in this situation? I have an attorney, but he is rather laid back and I would like a seperate opinion.
