Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
registering ownership of inherited propery
I am the executrix and sole beneficiary of my late mother's will. The will has gone through probate, and I have received ''letters testamentary.'' How do I now register my ownership of the house, located in Brooklyn, I've inherited? Do I fill out an Executor's Deed naming myself as the parties of both the first and second part?

It will probably be easier to have an attorney do this becasue you will need to have the appropraite tax returns and recordings documents filed with it.

I agree with Robert, as more documents that just the Executor's Deed are needed. There are several more documents that must accompany the Deed. I suggest either using an attorney or calling the Brooklyn office of a title company to assist you. For a small fee (maybe $50), plus the recording fees, the title company will provide you all forms that are required to see this is done properly. Your total costs, with recording fees, should be about $300.00. This is best to be done so there is clean title if you ever decide to sell.
