Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Relocation of place of business

The village that my office is located wants to expand the library;and we are next door. They want to condemn the office building that I rent and been located for 30 years. Can I be compensated for relocation of my office, the moving expenses, setting up the new office, loss of income, etc. Your help would be appreciated.

Re: Relocation of place of business

In most states, all you can get are relocation expenses. Does your lease say anything about what you can get if the building in condemned? The lease would control. If nothing in the lease, only moving expenses are usually allowed. No lost profits, etc. Check the state statute on this.
