Remove name as home owner
About twelve years ago, my mother and step-sister got a judgement against me (I never went to court and was told my attorney filed answer too late!) and they put a lien on a house I own with my husband. The lien expired and I heard from another relative that they tried to renew but county records show that the lien was not and the clerk told me there is no more lien on the property. I would like to protect myself from my mother and step-sister putting a lien on the house again. If my name was not listed as co-owner, I would not have to worry. Their "problem" is with me only. My husband was never involved in money dispute with them. My husband and I have a mortgage with both our names on it. Can I get my name off records as co-owner while there is a mortgage and how do I do it please! Thank you.

If the judgment has expired, they should not be able to sue you again for the same claim. That said, you may consider conveying title to your home to your spouse. I suggest you consuly with an attorney to accomplish that.
