Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I rent a duplex, and the previous tenant left a truck on the lawn that has been there for almost two years. My landlord wants the truck towed, and I have no contact with the owner of the truck. Is it legal for me to call a scrapyard and have them tow the truck off my property? Can I collect payment for scrap metal from the truck?

No. All you can do is have it towed and stored. You pay for one month's storage, and then the storage guy gets to hold a public sale after a few months to pay the storage charges. Landlord should be paying for this, but good luck negotiating that little angle.
