Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
renting a basement
I have a legal one-family house and I'm renting my basement. I know its illegal and my ''kind'' neighbors threatening me with sending some complain. I want to know to which department my neighbors can complain to make me pay some fins or get rid of my tenants?

Depending on where you live determines where the complaint will be filed. If where you live is located in a city, the complaint is usually with the City Building Department. If you live in a Town, the complaint is usually filed with the Town Building Department or the Town Attorney.
