Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I reside in a private home on Long Island in a village. Since hurricane Sandy almost 5 months ago the Verizon Fios wires have been off of the utility pole and laying across my backyard. I have called every other day and opened trouble cases with Verizon for the last two months and there's been no response to my request to put the wires back up on the pole. The mayor Of my village is also not able to get any action. All the cases I open with Verizon are closed my them without anyone contacting me or coming out to see the issue. The customer service reps are sympathetic but they are telling me the only way this may get resolved is if the service is disrupted (ie cut the wires). I contacted the police and they said they will not acharya me with any crime if I cut the wire since it is laying on my property and is a hazard and attempts to get them to resolve have gone unanswered. What can I legally do? I'd like to cut the and remove from my property ...

File a complaint with the New York State Public Service Commission. You can do it online and it will catch Verizon's attention.
