Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

How far off the road or number of feet is the, county or village allowed to cut into private property? The village or county is cutting trees along the road boardering my property. but are cutting trees down rather deep into my property. i have not taken measurements yet. i need to know my rights as the property owner. I was never notified that there was going to be a tree cutting expidition boardering my land. Thank you

The government cannot simply come on your land and cut trees. Check your survey against the area of cutting and then, if they trespassed, engage counsel. There are penalties for cutting down another person's trees, even if you can't prove damages.
