selling furniture

If you sell your home and the buyer also wants to buy your

furniture as a seperate deal is there a sale tax? and who pays that

sales tax the buyer or the seller? Thank you.

Generally, sales tax is due on virtually everything that is sold and purchased in NY.

Even a flea market, yard or garage sale, purchase generates a sales tax which is "added" to the amount a purchaser must pay to the Seller, for the Seller to pay to the State.

But, you should Talk to your closing or real estate attorney, about providing you with a proposed closing statement; "concessions" or other info about your contract or incidentals, that you appear to require.
