Selling House

If a client has signed a contract to buy a house in Niskayuna NY and the seller changes his mind and refuses to go through with the closing can a client force a closing?

It actually depends on the contract and the Buyer's actions. Usually, if the Seller renegs on the deal, the Buyer may be able to compel the Seller to close title. The Buyer would have to start a lawsuit for "specific performance".

You should speak with an attorney competent in real estate matters to review the contract to ascertain if specific performance is a viable course of action and what steps you need to take to protect yourself.
