shaddy lawering with dishonest lanlord

our rent is usually paid untime and in full but for the month of sept we were a little late in paying so we entered in a verbal agreement with the lanlord that we would send the rent with the superintendant of the building in witch we did.to our surprise we were sent legal papers in the mail we called both the lawyers representing the landlord and the landlord themself we were told by both parties not to worry since the money is paid but we still recieve notification from the courts saying that we should respond to the supeona. please advise me as to do.

Send a letter to the Court explaining the arrangement and that the rent has been paid. A copy should go to the lawyer for the landlord. Ask the lawyer to dismiss the action. If he refuses, you may have to go to court and verify the payment and the matter will be dismissed.
