Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
I signed a promissory note for a house that needed repairs. It had a fire previously and the owner said he was going to help me with repairs. Long story short the owner misrepresented the true extent of the damage and it will take 40,000 to repair .What can I do now?I cannot afford to repair .
How can I get out of the agreement?

I am confused. A promissory note has to state the exact amount that you owe. If the amount is not certain or cannot be made certain by adding up numbers that are stated in the "note," then it's not a promissory note. If I could see a copy of the document, I might be able to help; but why are you involved in this in the first place?
