Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Sold Camper - no Title

My husband purchased a 1992 Regal Prolwer Camper in 2003 shortly after his 1st wife passed away. We recently sold the camper and purchased another one from an area dealership. He thought the title was in the camper with other paperwork. When the campgrpound opened and we were able to check the camper - the title was not there. Camper World threatens to sue us if we do not produce the tile. DMV will only provide a duplicate title if your name is on the original title. My husband was not thinking straight at the time and does not remember if he had a title or not. He purchased it from another camper who used to be in the park. Can you give us an idea of where to start so we can try to work this out? Thank you.

Re: Sold Camper - no Title

The first place to start is with the dmv. request a title from them and/or a title search. You probably should go down to your local department of motor vehicles and bring your license with you.

they can also tell you in whose name it is still registered to - if not yours -and you can go with the appropriate paperwork and have the title resigned over to you if necessary.

if you need further information, please feel free to contact me.
