Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
Store restoration, damages and losses
i have a 5 year commercial lease for a retail store in manhattan. i completely restored and redesigned the store and opened 3 months ago. there was a water leak in the building due to one of the tenants above. the new wooden floor in my store has to be replaced. some of my items, fine clothes, have been damaged. i do not have an insurance coverage for my store but i am covered under the landlord's insurance. it will take 1 week to replace the floor and my store will be closed. can you please tell me what are my rights?
thank you.

Re: Store restoration, damages and losses
Your claim for damages and lost income should be made against the tenant if you can prove they were negligent.
