Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

My stuff

My ex-boyfriend and I rented an apartment together and never had a lease with the landlord. We have two children together. He kick us out six months ago and since then will not allow me to return and get our belongs. At first I had no where to store the stuff but now I do. No one (State Police, local judge, etc.)will help. They say he has to agree to let me come get my stuff. Each time I have tried, he (the ex) said that he would have me arrested if I came there. The landlord said that the ex had to agree to let me in to get my things. He has all the children's toys, clothes, my clothes, my china doll collection, all my furniture, stereo, etc. He even has all the Christmas decorations. Is there anything I can do to get my things back.

Re: My stuff

I suggest you tell the police that he stole all these thing. Give a money value to the objects.

If this does not work, go to the district attorneys office and file a criminal complaint for theft against him.
