Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I was told by word of mouth that it was a month to month lease, now im 4 days into the apartment and i don't want to live there and she told me that i signed a lease for 6 months is that lease valid or should i take it to court?

What does the lease say? Did you sign it without reading it?

Usually the written document controls over a verbal agreement. What does the document say? Are there problems with the apartment that may make it uninhabitable? Why are you deciding not to live there?
