Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I visited a friend and when I was there I removed my necklace and forgot to pick it back up when i left. After I left i let him know i forgot my necklace there, and he said he would return it when i got back from a ten day vacation. After I got back, i got a hold of him and he was extremely rude and than stopped talking to me. I have tried to contact him to get my necklace back and he is not responding to my messages. He is moving away from New York to Kansas in a couple weeks. What can I do to get my necklace returned?

This is a tough one. If, perhaps, you can get it on tape, quickly file in Sm Claims court.
