Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

My wife pased away. Our home and mortgage were in her maiden name. She left the house to me. The deed is now in my name. How do I get the mortgage in my name?

You will ptobably have to sign a new Note and Mortgage.

Why would you want the mortgage in your name? There is no benefit to you. And as long as you are paying the debt, there is no issue to the bank.
