My friend died and said he had me in his will. He had no family. No will was found in his apt. What step do I take next. Everything has gone to the state until they find next of kin or will

Do you know who drafted the will, they may have a copy. Of if he filed it in Surrogate's Court.

Contact any lawyers you may know your friend dealt with. Check with the Surrogates Court. Finally, is there anyone who overheard your friend say that you were in the Will? If so, you may be able to challenge the court's decision to give the State your friend's assets.
