Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
New York Tenant Housing Inspection
My landlord and I got into a fight about another matter and he started yelling at me about money, I complained about lack of repairs. I recieved a 30 day notice to vacate. I called the housing authority and they said he was retailiating against me and he is violating my rights. I was advised to call the housing inspector in regards to the lack of repairs.
I did and the house failed. Faulty windows, leaks, stairways without rails, blocked exits. He is not allowed to re-rent the apartment until all repairs have been made. (He was given 60 days) I was adviced to contact neighborhood legal services yet I am working when they take the first X amount of calls.
What do I do now? Pay my last months rent before I leave? File at small claims for inhabitable living conditions?
Not really sure what to do, please help...
