Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
Zoning variance
My Mom did a quick deed of land for my wife and I.
We got a 12x60 1985 house trailer for free and put it on the land.
The code enforcer came down and said we need a permit, told me we were grandfather's, just he wanted us to get it off the road more. Which we had planned.
Now, one year later, he came back, said ''someone'' is hollering at him and he can no longer let us stay on my land.
We eventually plan on building a house, WE have fixed everything up, installed, electric poles, well and septic system.
Can He or the town board, really make us get rid of our trailer now?
He gives no reason as to what is wrong except he says ''he has been fighting to keep us on our land'' and ''someone is giving him a hard time''
Who could possibly care about our land? we have 2 1/2 acres and no close neighbors.
Is there anything we can do to not have to move our trailer now.
WE just had a new baby and I was hurt at work. I just got back to work and am catching up on past dues.

Re: Zoning variance
you would have to check with the town to see what the zoning requirements are for your plot of land.
If the zoning requirements say that the land is not to be used for a mobile home, then you can petition to municipal entity for a variance for the land.
You really have not told me why the zoning enforcement official wants the trailor off of the land.
Did he tell you? Did he give you anything in writting?
I really need more information to properly advise you.
