Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in New York

is there anything we can do

my cousin was arrested a little while ago, she did something stupid , but thats not the question i wanted to ask it's what happened after......the cop that arrested her was flirting with her the whole time she was being held.....then called her the day after she was released..my question is, is it against the police department policies for the arresting officer to have sex with the person he arrested?...i have tried to find out but i can't....i know this cop was in trouble for cheating on his wife once before....i just feel that if the cops are there to protect us they should not be playing around with people they arrest.....am i wrong.......if this is against there proceedure what can be done

It is absolutely inappropriate for a police officer to "come on" or have sex with someone he has arrested.

Your friend should report this IMMEDIATELY to the head of the police department. She should also seek out other community leaders to discuss the matter with. I would also suggest she sue the officer, and the department. The chances are if the officer did this to her, he has done this to other people too.
