Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in New York
Sexual Harrasment Law
Are companies required by law to have a written policy regarding sexual harassment and the procedure to lodge and resolve complaints? If so, does that apply to every state in the U.S.?

Re: Sexual Harrasment Law
Federal law and New York STATE law do not require that a company have a written policy against discrimination or harassment. (Other states, or other municipalities within New York, may have different laws.) These laws do require, however, that companies accept and investigate complaints of discrimination and harassment. Also, an employer may never retaliate against an employee because the employee made a complaint, even if the employer does not believe the employee's complaint.
