how long do you have, to make a legal report? what are the steps you have to make after reporting it to the employer?is waiting 5 months to late

Waiting 5 months is not too late but you better get going. Get to a local EEOC office and make the complaint. You might also look for a lawyer to help you with it. You would look for a lawyer who handles employment law cases. There are a bunch of them here, on Findlaw and on AVVO.com. ( you can also see their ratings there. After you case has been evaluated you get a right to sue letter and sue them for the way they treated you and the loss of income you endured.
