Re: Quid pro quo harassment
It sounds like a violation of the NY State and NY City laws against sexual harassment. This is a quid quo pro situation, where a superior expects sexual favors in return for continuing employment.
This is distinct from "creation of a hostile work place" another form of sexual harassment.
It is a violation of New York State and City law.
If your employer has more then 25 employees then it is also a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights act, a federal statute. If you want to commence a proceeding against your employer the first step is to file a grievance with the NYS Division of Human Rights, who will also accept the
filing for the EEOC. They have a website at www.NYSDHR.com.
Ask them if you have to file separately in New York City.
If you wish to discuss this, or are interested in
following this up in court, email further details.
