Can you have private insurance and SSI disability insurance?

There usually is no interplay between private insurance and Social Security Disability. If you receive private insurance benefits, that amount may preclude Supplemental Security Income. Moreover, group disability insurance through work usually has an offset for Social Security Disability insurance.
