Legal Question in Tax Law in New York

IRS Headaches

We owe a large amount of back taxes @ 25,000+, they have garnished my husbands wages on a weekly basis. They also have taken any refunds due us for the past @ 5 years, both federal & state. They also closed out our checking account and took that money and left us in a bind with our bills. It seems the more we pay out the more we owe. I want to finally put this to an end and get the IRS off our backs. I can't keep paying this for the next 11 years or so. We have a family to contend with. Is there any remedy to doing this and how do I go about it. If you need more info, please let me know! thank-you

Re: IRS Headaches

There's good news for you! Call the IRS and request that you get an "Offer in compromise" to pay off only what you can afford to pay for the debt! Then, the IRS writes off the rest of it! Go for your personal freedom! Good luck!!
